SCA Coronation
Yesterday Drew and I went to an SCA event. We had alot of fun and got to see alot of people. I have started my Marshal in Training for the Youth Combat. I Helped a little girl who was 8 get into Armour and fight some of the boys, She was pretty cool. They don't hit each other with Rattan like the bigger adult fighters do. Instead they use plastic golf tubes wrapped in foam, so it doesn't hurt nearly as much. It's amazing how much chivalry a small child can have. After a long day of activities, we were looking forward to food. And readied ourselves for my favourite patr of any event... The FEAST!
Feast was amazing, We had a crazy assortment of foods most were great. But the blueberries and whipped cream is what won me over. I Always love an SCA feast, Sitting in Candle light, Surrounded by Music, Dancing, Cheers and toasts. The occasional comic relief or listening to poems recited. An entire feast usually runs 2-3 hours from start to finish. Feast is truly the favourite time of my event. You finally get to sit down with thoose you would enjoy their company most, And your surrounded by a wonderful atmosphere.Unfortunatly it also signifies the end of a very fun day.
After feast we had a long drive from Stratford to St. Catharines, So we had to leave right away. All we wanted to do was sleep when we got home. As we were coming near to the end of our drive I started dozining off, and bobbing my head awake, Trying to keep Drew company as he was the driver. There are always thoose last few turns in a long drive that make you feel that "I'm home" feeling as you Start to sit up knowing that your blankets and pillows are that much nearer.
We finally made that last turn into our driveway, and as I was looking around for my purse and starting to untangle myself from my seat belt Drew made a Sudden stop....
